Ahafo Group Praises Agric Minister Eric Opoku's Achievements | Ghana Agriculture (2026)

Ahafo Region's Social Group Praises Minister's Agricultural Leadership

In a bold move, the Ahafo Development Association, a prominent social group within the Ahafo Region, has stepped forward to applaud the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, for his exceptional performance since taking office. This commendation comes with a powerful endorsement, highlighting Mr. Opoku's unwavering commitment to driving the nation's agricultural sector forward.

But here's where it gets controversial...

The association's spokesperson, Prince Kofi Diawuo, boldly asserts that Mr. Opoku's knowledge and passion for the role surpass all previous incumbents. He argues that the minister has not only distinguished himself in his new portfolio but has also been instrumental in implementing various agricultural policies and programs, ensuring the sector's growth and development.

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Graphic in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, the association elaborated on their praise. "We are greatly impressed with his performance because he has discharged his mandate with diligence and commitment towards the growth and development of the sector," they stated.

And this is the part most people miss...

Mr. Diawuo highlighted the minister's unwavering dedication to championing agricultural policies and interventions promised by the Mahama-Opoku-Agyemang administration. He mentioned notable achievements such as the Feed Ghana Programme, Vegetable Development Project, Nkoko Nketenkete, and the construction of a poultry processing factory at Bechem, among others. These initiatives are seen as crucial steps towards achieving food security and transforming the agricultural landscape.

Furthermore, Mr. Diawuo praised Mr. Opoku's exceptional resolve to ensure the successful implementation of these agricultural initiatives. "We are optimistic that he will provide the required leadership and guidance to achieve the desired results," he added.

The association also acknowledged the Minister of Food and Agriculture's role in attracting foreign investments, including the construction and rehabilitation of dams in northern Ghana and a $100 million investment to drive AI-powered agriculture. "We wish to applaud him since the ministry is working so hard to ensure that the country is food secure and to make Ghana the bread basket in West Africa and Africa as a whole," Mr. Diawuo said.

In a recent comment, President John Dramani Mahama praised Mr. Opoku, stating that he would be one of the nation's best ministers to have manned the sector. This sentiment was echoed by the association, with its patron, Nana Yaw Adjei, expressing pride in Mr. Opoku's achievements and encouraging further applause to enable him to do more for the transformation of agriculture in Ghana.

Additionally, the association extended their commendation to Mr. Collins Dauda, the Member of Parliament for Asutifi South, for his efforts towards the development of the Ahafo Region.

So, what do you think? Is this praise for Mr. Opoku well-deserved? Do you believe his leadership will propel Ghana's agricultural sector to new heights? Share your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
