Amy Schumer and chef Chris Fischer have decided to end their marriage after more than seven years together.
We learn the news from an Instagram post the comedian shared on Friday, accompanied by a photo of her and Fischer riding a New York City subway. In her characteristic blend of humor and sincerity, Schumer confirms the breakup while making it clear the split is amicable.
“Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years,” she wrote, adding that the two “love each other very much” and plan to focus on raising their son together.
Schumer also asked for privacy as they navigate this transition and gently dispelled any rumors about the reasons behind the split.
She stressed that the decision is not about physical changes or Fischer’s continued success and appeal. The separation, she said, comes with “all love and respect” and a shared commitment to family. “Family forever,” she concluded.
The couple first became romantically involved in 2017 and tied the knot in February 2018.
In May 2019, they welcomed their son, Gene.
