A local farm, Fruitful Hill Farm, is making a difference in the Sault community by delivering organic goodness right to customers' doors. With a bold commitment to clean and healthy eating, the MacPhail family has been inspiring Algoma District residents for over a decade.
Located in Dunns Valley, a short drive from the Sault, this family-run farm is a true gem. Jeff MacPhail, along with his wife Norma and son John, have created a haven for organic produce and delicious treats.
But here's where it gets interesting: their farm is all about going back to basics.
"We pride ourselves on being organic. Everything we grow is free from pesticides and harmful sprays," John MacPhail shared with SooToday.
And this is the part most people miss: the MacPhails believe in the power of local, organic produce. Their farm offers a wide range of fresh goods, from produce to bread, jams, and even bath products.
During the summer months, you can find them at the Algoma Farmers' Market near the Roberta Bondar Pavilion, and all year round at the Soo Market on Saturdays.
In the colder months, their selection includes a variety of freshly baked breads and organic scones and cakes, keeping the community warm and satisfied.
"It's a great way to stay connected and I love being outdoors," John explained about his decision to join the family business.
But John's not just a farmer; he's also a carpenter, bringing a unique skill set to the table.
"I truly believe in the importance of having access to local, organic produce. It's the real deal, no junk here!" John emphasized.
You can even order their delicious food online through their website, with deliveries made to Sault customers every Wednesday.
The MacPhails take pride in building personal connections with their customers and promoting the benefits of buying local.
"We appreciate our customers who take the time to tell us they enjoy shopping local. It means a lot to us," John added.
