Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance: A Busy Christmas and a Year of Vital Missions
The Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance (LNAA) has seen a significant increase in call-outs during the festive season, highlighting the critical role of air ambulance services in the community. Between December 23rd and January 1st, 2025, the crew responded to 55 emergencies, a 65% rise compared to the same period in 2024, when they undertook 35 missions.
This surge in demand underscores the importance of the air ambulance service, which is entirely funded by donations. Chief Executive Karen Jobling praised the crew's dedication, stating, 'Our team worked tirelessly to respond to emergencies while many were enjoying the holidays.'
Of the 55 call-outs, 29 were medical emergencies, and 9 were related to road traffic collisions. The busiest day was December 29th, with 13 missions, demonstrating the high volume of critical incidents during the festive period.
Looking ahead, the charity aims to enhance its services. In February 2026, new critical care cars will be introduced, and fundraising efforts will intensify in anticipation of a second helicopter landing in 2027. Jobling emphasized the reliance on community support, stating, 'Our service is essential, and we couldn't operate without the incredible backing of our community.'
Over the past year, LNAA has flown 1,608 missions and treated over a thousand patients, further emphasizing the vital role of air ambulance services in saving lives and providing rapid medical care.
