The Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team's comeback fell just short as they lost to Arcadia University by a score of 66-65 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom game. Despite a 13-point deficit in the first half, Stevens mounted a strong effort, with Harmehar Chhabra leading the charge with a career-high 24 points. However, Arcadia's Jamison Lynam kept them in the lead with 19 points.
The game began with Stevens trailing 11-4, but Chhabra's free throw and Brendan Coughlan's layup brought them back to 11-7. Arcadia's lead expanded to 13, but Chhabra's three-pointer just before halftime reduced the deficit to 31-22. In the second half, Arcadia's lead hovered around four points, but Stevens mounted a comeback. Anthony Loscalzo's three-pointer and Chhabra's layup tied the game at 50-50.
The game remained close throughout the final minutes. Chhabra's and-one layup gave Stevens the lead, but Lynam quickly responded. The game was tied at 63-63, and Arcadia took the lead with 58 seconds remaining. Chhabra's layup and a turnover forced by Stevens set up a final chance. With seconds ticking away, Chhabra secured a rebound, but the game's outcome was sealed as Chhabra's late shot attempt was ruled late, resulting in a one-point Arcadia victory.
Chhabra's performance was impressive, with 24 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Stevens' shooting percentage improved in the second half, and Kyle Maddison contributed with five assists and two steals. The Ducks' next game is a homestand against King's College on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. inside Canavan Arena.
