Cigna and UNC Health Resolve Healthcare Standoff: Patients Reassured

The previous contract between the two parties expired on November 30th, leaving patients in a state of uncertainty. However, the new deal, effective from December 1st, covers all Cigna Healthcare commercial plans, providing much-needed clarity and continuity of care.
James Day, General Manager for Cigna Healthcare Carolinas, expressed his satisfaction with the agreement, stating, "Cigna Healthcare is pleased to have reached a deal with UNC Health, allowing us to continue in-network coverage for the customers we jointly serve. Together, we will continue to provide affordable, quality care to North Carolinians."
UNC Health also assured patients that any upfront payments made while they were out of network will be refunded as Cigna processes the claims. This gesture demonstrates a commitment to transparency and patient support.
