The role

Help support the professionals who bring life-saving drugs and medical devices to market! RAPS (the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society) is seeking an Associate Publisher to support its peer-reviewed books and content products.
We are looking for an Associate Writer to join our team and help prepare and publish compelling educational and informative content written by subject matter experts.

In this role, you will:

  • Prepare manuscripts for peer review by external reviewers
  • Coordinate manuscripts during the peer review process and maintain version control
  • Proofread manuscripts, figures and tables to ensure accuracy and clarity
  • Check references for accuracy and style
  • Prepare finalized manuscripts for layout, including editing and markup of tables and figures
  • Assist in the production of pages as needed
  • Initiate and coordinate correspondence with volunteer authors
  • Coordinate efforts and correspondence for the Editorial Advisory Board

About you

We are looking for a team member who has an inquisitive mindset, seeks editorial excellence and has a desire for professional growth. You are a multi-tasker, but pay great attention to detail and enjoy working on a variety of projects – large and small – at the same time. You have impeccable fluency in written and oral communication. This position will suit someone who wants to better understand the healthcare system and the medicines that treat patients and improve health.

The main requirements are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communication or related discipline or equivalent experience
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in an editorial role (editor, editor, assistant editor)
  • Experience working with a proscribed editorial style such as AMA, APA, Chicago or similar
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word; experience with InCopy/InDesign is a plus
  • Publishing experience in an association, society or non-profit organization, an asset
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills and work ethic
