JCC Accepts Entries for North Country 2022 Writers’ Contest | WWTI

WATERTOWN, NY (WWTI) – A competition is now open for North Country writers.

Jefferson Community College announced this week that it is accepting applications for its 2022 North Country Writer’s Contest.

Entries may be submitted in the form of poetry, short fiction, or essay and non-fiction. For poetry, entries cannot exceed 100 lines and short fiction films and essays must be between 1,000 and 3,000 words long.

According to JCC, each submission must reflect a connection to the country of the North, be unpublished, letter quality and must be double-spaced, with the exception of the poetry.

Submission title and genre, author name, address, phone number, email address, and word count must appear on a separate required cover page. Applications are preferred electronically as an attachment and can be emailed to [email protected] Submissions will not be returned.

One winner will be chosen from each genre and will receive $ 75 and will be published on the Jefferson Community College website. Nominations that receive an honorable mention will receive $ 25 and an online publication.

The contest for writers from the north of the country is open to all residents and friends of the region. Authors can submit a maximum of three entries. Submissions are due by February 25, 2022.

Authors retain all rights to their work after its first publication. A reading and virtual work and the awards ceremony will take place at the Black River Review in May 2022.
