TRYON– Saturday, November 19, launch party for the first novel by MM Cochran, Between the ocean and the starsmust take place at the Tryon Depot located at 22 Depot Street in Tryon.

Cochran, a reporter and columnist for the Tryon Daily Bulletin, is an award-winning fiction writer from Greenville with a background in English and creative writing. She will participate in signing sessions for guests and talk about her brand new novel, released earlier this month.

Between the ocean and the stars can be described as a whimsical and romantic mystery filled with excitement and dark emotions. It can be compared to the hit streaming series External banks and the books shot in the cinema, the After series.

Cochran’s coming-of-age novel revolves around a newcomer to Ophelia Island, Sam Carter, who meets an attractive diner girl, Georgia Gabehart, and her dangerous boyfriend. After a hurricane hits the island, Sam finds himself in the middle of a police investigation with Georgia nowhere to be found. Filled with love, tragedy and mystery, the book is sure to leave all its readers satisfied.

“Every reader loves a bit of mystery and romance, and this novel has both,” Cochran said when asked what readers would enjoy. Between the ocean and the stars. “This book was written for young adults, but there’s no age limit for a book where you can connect to a character’s experience.”

As Cochran prepares for the launch party next month, she recalls her journey to becoming a published author, saying, “I’ve been a writer since I was about 12. When my editor offered me a contract at 22, I was over the moon. A year later, here I am, living the life of an author I dreamed of when I was a teenager. I have to thank my loyal readers and my incredible publisher.

Between the ocean and the stars is published by IngramElliot Publishing, an award-winning independent publisher whose mission is to bring great stories to light in print and on screen.

Cochran expressed excitement about being able to share her first novel with the community she’s come to love.

“Members of the local community have been my friends since I started working with the Bulletin years ago, and their support has taken me a long way in my writing,” says Cochran. “That’s why this book signing and launch party is open to the public. I want to meet and hang out with my readers and friends here at Tryon.”
